Can you claim?
Yes. Split tickets are valid tickets, and the train stops at the stations where your tickets change, so your journey counts as normal. Your delay is measured at the destination on your tickets.
How companies handle it
- Southeastern asks you to make one claim, enter the ticket number as 00000, choose "Other", and say a split ticket was used.
- South Western Railway asks you to upload all of your tickets with the claim.
- Most other companies let you add more than one ticket to a claim, or ask you to explain in the notes. Check your company's page.
How much you get
Compensation is usually worked out on the combined price of the tickets for the delayed journey. If only part of your journey was affected, the company may base it on the ticket for that part. Use the calculator with the total you paid as a guide.
